Ceremonial-grade, single-origin matcha from Japan — shipped fresh from California.

From the Mist of Kakegawa
In Kakegawa, gentle morning fog slows photosynthesis and preserves sweetness. These fields are shaded for 30+ days — unlocking full-bodied umami, calm energy, and vibrant green color.
A Tea Method Worth Protecting
This matcha is crafted using Shizuoka’s only living heritage tea method, passed down through five generations of the Ōtsuka family. Recognized by the United Nations as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System, this traditional method enriches the soil and deepens the tea’s natural sweetness.

Freshly Sealed in Shizuoka
Each tin is filled and sealed at peak freshness in Shizuoka, Japan — immediately after stone milling. Just fresh, vibrant matcha shipped directly to you from its origin.

Frequently Asked Questions
+ When will my order ship?
This is a limited pre-order. Orders will begin shipping from California starting May 30.
+ Is all of your matcha first harvest?
Yes — we only offer first harvest matcha, made from the youngest, most tender leaves of the season. It's the foundation of quality, and we don’t compromise on it.
+ Is this your first matcha release?
This is our first release in the U.S., but the matcha itself comes from a tea garden in Shizuoka with over 150 years of history. Milled in small batches and sealed at origin, it reflects generations of craftsmanship — now brought directly to you.
+ Is your matcha certified organic?
Our matcha is grown using traditional farming methods that avoid synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. These techniques have been passed down for over five generations and are part of the Shizuoka tea culture officially recognized by the United Nations as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS).
While not every batch carries a formal organic certification, these heritage methods uphold ecological harmony and soil health — often exceeding modern organic standards in practice and principle.
+ What if I don’t like the taste?
Taste is personal, and matcha can be surprisingly complex. If it’s not what you expected, we’re happy to offer tips on preparation and pairing — sometimes just changing the water or whisking style makes all the difference.
If you’re still not satisfied, email us. We’re here to make sure your experience feels right.
