Foggy tea fields in Kakegawa

From the Mist of Kakegawa

In Kakegawa, gentle morning fog slows photosynthesis and preserves sweetness. These fields are shaded for 30+ days — unlocking full-bodied umami, calm energy, and vibrant green color.

A Tea Method Worth Protecting

This matcha is crafted using Shizuoka’s only living heritage tea method, passed down through five generations of the Ōtsuka family. Recognized by the United Nations as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System, this traditional method enriches the soil and deepens the tea’s natural sweetness.

Sealed jar or bottle

Add matcha and cool or warm water to a sealed container. Shake firmly for 15–20 seconds, then drink or pour over ice.

Choosing and Preparing Your Matcha

What does this Shizuoka matcha taste like?

It is smooth and naturally sweet, with low bitterness and a clean finish. It can be enjoyed with water, over ice, or with milk.

Is this matcha strong enough for a latte?

Yes. Start with about 3 grams of matcha for a latte so the tea remains noticeable after milk is added. Use less milk for a stronger tea flavor.

How do I make matcha without bitterness or clumps?

Sift the powder and use water around 158–167°F (70–75°C). Mix the matcha with a small amount of water first, then add the remaining water and whisk or shake until smooth.

Do I need a bamboo matcha whisk?

No. A bamboo whisk creates a fine texture and light foam, but a sealed jar, shaker bottle, or handheld frother also works.

What is the difference between the 40g tin and the 50g refill pouch?

Both formats are included in the Limited Matcha offer. The 40g option comes in a tin for convenient storage. The 50g refill pouch provides more matcha with less packaging and can be used to refill your tin.

How should I store matcha after opening?

Keep it tightly sealed and protected from heat, light, moisture, and strong odors. Refrigeration can help preserve freshness.

When removing matcha from the refrigerator, let the closed package warm slightly before opening it. This helps reduce condensation inside.

Is Zenergy matcha certified organic?

Organic certification varies by product. Certification details are stated on each individual product page. A matcha should not be assumed to be certified organic unless that certification is clearly shown.

Where is Zenergy matcha grown?

This matcha comes from Shizuoka, Japan, one of the country’s established tea-growing regions. Individual product pages provide more specific information about origin, flavor, cultivar, and preparation.

Can matcha be returned?

What is the return policy for tea tools and non-food items?

Unopened, eligible non-food items may be returned within 15 days. Contact us before returning an item so we can confirm eligibility and provide instructions.

Approved refunds are issued within 10 business days after an eligible return has been received and inspected. Your bank or card provider may require additional processing time.

More Matcha Questions

More detail on matcha ratios, texture, freshness, caffeine, and terminology.

How much matcha powder should I use per cup?

Start with 2 grams for matcha prepared with water and about 3 grams for a latte. Increase or reduce the amount based on your preferred strength.

Can I prepare matcha with cold water?

Yes. Matcha can be shaken with cold water in a sealed jar or bottle. Sifting first can help prevent clumps.

Why does matcha settle at the bottom of the cup?

Matcha is finely ground tea leaf, not an instant powder that fully dissolves. Some settling is normal. Stir, whisk, or shake the drink again before finishing it.

Why does my matcha taste bitter?

Water that is too hot, too much powder, or too little water can make matcha taste more bitter. Begin with water around 158–167°F (70–75°C) and adjust the ratio gradually.

Why is my matcha latte too weak?

The milk may be overpowering the tea. Try using 3–4 grams of matcha, less milk, or a milk with a lighter flavor.

Can I whisk matcha directly into milk?

It is possible, but matcha usually mixes more smoothly when first combined with a small amount of water. Add milk after the matcha base is smooth.

What does first-harvest matcha mean?

First-harvest matcha is made from tea leaves collected during the spring harvest. These younger leaves are often selected for their smoother texture, aroma, and balanced flavor.

What does ceremonial-grade matcha mean?

“Ceremonial grade” is not a legally regulated classification. It is commonly used for matcha intended to be enjoyed primarily with water. Origin, harvest, cultivar, freshness, and flavor provide more useful information than the grade label alone.

How long does matcha stay fresh after opening?

Matcha is best enjoyed while its color, aroma, and flavor are still vivid. Keep it tightly sealed and use it consistently after opening rather than leaving the package exposed for long periods.

Can unopened matcha be refrigerated or frozen?

Unopened matcha can be kept cold for longer storage when it is properly sealed. Allow the closed package to approach room temperature before opening to reduce condensation.

How much caffeine is in matcha?

Caffeine varies with the tea and the amount of powder used. A larger serving contains more caffeine. Use less matcha powder when you prefer a lighter serving.

Can I drink matcha every day?

Many people include matcha in a daily routine. Serving size, caffeine sensitivity, and the time of day should guide how much works for you.
